What a Week
Needless to say, I’ve been a bit unmotivated to do much posting this week. I’ll just say that it’s been a week of ups and downs, and I’ve had some distractions. Oh well, that’s how these things go.
However, there were some highlights along the way which are worth mentioning.
Raney blew through town like a hurricane on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was under the guise of “work” and ended with the foregone conclusion of “drunk” on tuesday and “exhausted” on wednesday. Did anyone else know that monsoons has a special of $5 for a house sake and a Kirin bomber on tuesdays? I didn’t, but I do now. In fact, I’m intimitely aware of them and their consequences.
Yesterday night I went to my first christmas party of the season in the form of the “Ugly Sweater Party” at the Franklin residence. I have to admit, my purchase was a last minute goodwill run and not overly spectacular, but others represented in full-force.
That party rolled downtown to the Monte Vista, and I departed when everyone was heading to Collins for some dancing to cap the night.
I’m glad I called it early (is 1 am early?) because I met up with a typically fast crew this morning for a shred in Sedona and needed what was left of a good night’s sleep. We rocked a ride which ended up taking around 5 hours. It included a mere couple miles of road riding, but almost 2 miles of bushwacking in what amounted to a detour instead of the intended shortcut.
I’m sure there’s some lesson learned from that involving shortcuts, or maybe bushwacking through cactus, or some other insightful message, but I’m drawing a blank right now.
From left to right we’ve got Prebus, Benson, Adam, Kevin Noble, and Blair. Like I said, a motley crew of incredibly strong riders, and we were all bushed by the end of it. Awesome.
I’m not sure what’s up on tap for tomorrow, but I’m thinking of heading down to sedona again for another big day. Gotta take advantage.
