The smoke from the controlled burn hung like fog in the air and the sky was clouded over.
It was gonna be a dark night.
So I grabbed both the helmet and the bar mount lights.

The temperature said 40 when I left, but the forecast said low of 20.
It was gonna be a cold night.
So I packed the big backpack with a couple clothing options.

My legs, lungs, and brain were in the same place: enough of these short ‘squeezed-in’ after work rides.
I was gonna be out for a while.
So I threw in a couple granola bars and made sure the water was topped off.

The darkness closed in not more than a mile up schultz, and then I completely lost track of time.
I had no plan and let the wandering take over.
So I went with it, and showed up back at my doorstep almost 3 hours of darkness later, with a smile on my face.
