I’ve been doing better about getting out this week riding after work. I made it out a couple days on the mountain bike, and another day on the road bike. It’s getting tougher and tougher. . .

I also took the plunge into winter training mode full force. There are a set of Minoura Advance Rollers with a magnetic resistance unit on their way for me as we speak. I think this winter my goal is to not feel like crap for old pueblo. The last couple years have been OK, but I always feel like I’m not even close to 100% in February. Then again, flagstaff is usually covered in snow while everyone from phoenix and tucson is spinning away the miles in warmth by that point. I just want to say I didn’t lose it completely this winter.

With the power of a set of rollers and the 3 at a time netflix program, we’ll see what happens.

Speaking of road biking, I decided today was a road day. You may be thinking that I went out for the saturday morning world championships (which it has been over 2 months since I went out for). In reality, I got up this morning, watched 2001 and finally got on the bike around noon. I made it out Lake Mary Road in time to see everyone else who was out on the group ride making their way back in. I ended up doing the whole loop, plus an additional 10 miles, bringing me up to about 75 miles today. It was pretty brutally windy, but I still managed to average just over 19 mph for the ride.

I’ve forgotten how much longer that ride takes when you don’t have a choice of 50 other wheels to grab a hold of.

I think tomorrow is going to be a mountain day, I might even head down to sedona. We’ll see.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means that it’s time for the 3rd annual pre-thanksgiving Turkey Fry. I’ll be getting a 1/2 keg of beer and 2 twenty pound turkeys to fry up (the turkeys, not the beer) for this coming saturday. I have 2 batches of homebrew ready to go as well (the number 9 and a dry-hopped brown I’m calling ‘nut house brown’). The rest is potluck style. Same rules as my other parties apply: if you know where I live, consider yourself invited. If you don’t know where I live and want to drop by, send me an email, and I’ll let you know where I live, and then you’ll be invited too. I’m going to start frying at 2:00, with dinner getting started around 5:00. Come by, eat, drink, and pass out on the couch with the rest of the crew from turkey overdose. Mmmmm. . . .
