FKR and the Big Bang
It was pointed out to me that the last two weeks have seen me partying more than usual and riding less than usual. I’ll admit, there’s no denying that fact.
I also made a very introspective observation: when I come home after having a few drinks, I’m more inclined to hammer out hairbrained ideas on my computer. Sometimes these result in useless programs (I’ve got quite a few dealing with GPS tracks for some reason) and every now and again, they result in registering a website domain name with some hairbrained idea behind it.
The latest (which some of you already know about) is a tribute to our dear friend Kevin Rice. Now, you have to realize, this is not just Kevin Rice, but “F-ing Kevin Rice” as we so endearingly call him. A little while back, Steph pointed out (probably over some wine) that it would be really funny to print shirts that said “Sex-Man-Asian”, which can roughly be translated to “F-ing Kevin Rice”. Soon thereafter, it was a group concensus that everyone’s favorite red-faced mountain biking phenom could be described in much the same way as Chuck Norris, but with simply substituting “Chuck Norris” with “FKR”.
The moral of the story is that I got drunk last monday night, and created a website. I present to you:
SexManAsian.com
Like I said, I had a few drinks, and spent a few hours screwing around on my computer. These things happen.
In case you are confused, or just don’t care for inside jokes about FKR, I’ll divert your attention to a TV show which I saw for the first time tonight, and thought it was absolutely hilarious. The show is on CBS, and is called The Big Bang Theory.
Now, as most of you know, I don’t have cable or even an antenna, so this was purely a Netflix rental on a hot tip, and it was worth it. It’s a hilarious show with some positively geeky humor.
I am both proud and ashamed at the same time that I believe I understood a vast majority of the geeky jokes that were made in the several episodes that I watched tonight. Everything from jokes about X10 systems, to Occam’s Razor, to the fact that they were playing 3-d chess at the beginning of one episode.
Although, whether you get the jokes or not, I still recommend checking it out if you have a few minutes. It is starting to be trainer season in the mornings, after all.
