My Neck Hurts
I’m stiff and sore from this weekend. “Why?”, you may ask.
Well, it wasn’t because of the party on friday night. In case you missed all the invites floating around on twitter and facebook, I had a little slideshow/party from the new zealand pics I took on friday night. We drank some homebrew, looked at some slides, and hung out.
Oh yeah, and Shawn made some beautiful art.
I’m not really sure what to think about how he sees me. Should I be flattered? impressed? disturbed?
I don’t know, but what I do know is that it’s still on my fridge, and it seems to really tie the room together.
Anywho, the reason I’m sore is because Jerry took me out to Lake Mary to get beat up behind his boat on saturday. I think I posted something about wakeboarding a month or so back, and saturday was time number 2 I’ve been behind a boat.
As with anything else I try, the ‘basics’ get very boring to me quickly, and so I soon was inspired by the other guys out who were out there to start trying jumps, spins, and other assorted tricks. This led to some success in the form of pretty consistant air 180s. At the end of the day, I decided to ‘go big or go home’ as they say and ended up jumping the wake as well.
It was a lot of fun, except for the 20-30 cartwheels and faceplants I did.
Alright, those were kinda fun too.
Jerry took some video while we were out there, check it out:
I also snapped some pics while I was out there. None of me, but a few of Jerry’s buddy who put us all to shame on the wakeboard and then the slalom ski. It was a sight to see.
I channeled the power of beer when I got home and busted out a little photoshop (actually, gimp) action and put this together as well.
A great day for sure.
Sunday was supposed to involve bike riding and firewood cutting, but rain threw a wrench in those plans, so instead I spent the day putting together my next brew. It’s a “sweet oatmeal stout“. The oatmeal part is obvious, but the ‘sweet’ part us also sometimes referred to as a ‘milk stout’. This is because it’s brewed with the addition of Lactose. Even though Lactose is a sugar, it’s not fermentable by brewers yeast, so the beer has residual sugar and is sweeter after it’s done fermenting.
I apologize to my lactose intolerant brethren as this beer will be inaccessible to you. Just remember, this is all in the name of science.
That’s all I got for ya this morning, I’m off to bundle up and ride to work. Keep the rubber side down.
