Interbike (Part 1) and Tour De Fat
I survived, barely. The last week has been a whirlwind of traveling and drinking.
Interbike was off the hook, as you may well have imagined. The quick summary is: I walked the entire show, got almost 60 pictures of some new fun stuff, partied all night both nights we were there, saw some old friends, got a royal flush playing texas hold-em, broke a bowling lane (and fixed it), met a bunch of cool people, bought a new messenger bag, and generally had a good time.
The slightly longer summary is that I am still compiling my notes and pictures for a post in the next day or two with all the info from the new cool stuff that I saw at the show. Everything from a moots snow bike, to some new surly gear, to the new Crank Brothers’ cranks (go figure). More on that later.
I also met up with Rob and Amy from delaware. For those who don’t know, I worked in delaware for about 6 months while I was still in college. I did some biking out there while I was there, and Amy was one of the people I used to bike with. Well, I met up with Rob who is now living back in delaware as well, and lo and behold, Amy was there with him. It was a good time, we tore it up thursday night.
We also all bowled at the IMBA/Kona bowling fundraiser. That, too, was pretty out of control. We drank a lot of beers, threw a lot of balls, and in the end, clogged up the bowling alley ball return by throwing anywhere from 1 to 5 balls down the alley at the same time. It got the the point where the guys from the alley were coming over to fix it so much that they just taught us how to do it so they wouldn’t have to anymore.
Oh yeah, and i was playing texas hold-em at the voodoo cycles booth, and got a royal flush. Unfortunately, I’m really bad at texas hold-em, so I went out about 3 hands later, but so it goes.
After interbike was the ever-enjoyable Tour De Fat here in flag. We drank a lot of beer. I heard rumors that New Belgium Brewing Company brought 200 kegs this year, and it finally did the trick. It’s all rumor for now, but I heard we finished over 180 of them. This is the first year they didn’t run out. It was a good time. I would say one of the highlights (as always) was riding the crazy bikes they have there. They not only had crazy bikes this year, but also a unicycle with a giant car tire on it. I got a round of applause for riding it around the ring a couple times. It was pretty freakin’ sweet. More pics here including the aftermath of everyone coming over to my house and ‘post-partying’.
I can’t believe I’m saying it, but it will be nice to get back to work this week so my liver can heal….. More pics to come of interbike.

Nice Job on the slowride…allmost, that beer was just too good huh?! So, some sad news…my blue bike was stolen at Tour De Fat
??? So If any of you see it let me know, oh and kick some ass for me…who steals a bike at Tour De Fat? I am still crying!
