So far, so good. I made it into california thursday night without too much event. Went for a good ride in Farifax on friday with some folks from England, including Jenn Hopkins who had just finished the “Great Divide Race”:http://greatdividerace.com/_wsn/page2.html.

It was a sweet little loop at “Tamarancho”:http://www.doubleknot.com/openrosters/ViewOrgPageLink.asp?LinkKey=4023 which I ended up doing both directions. Nice fast flowy trails with some sweet views. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

I headed down to the Golden Gate Bridge on friday evening to meet up with the group ride which was heading out from the “American Cyclery”:http://www.americancyclery.com/. I headed across the bridge in the fog and caught up with the group as they headed across the bridge.

Everyone regrouped and we headed down a dirt road to Kirby Cove.

At the bottom, the guys hosted a “49er style BBQ” which apparently means cold (somewhat frozen) psuedo-meat. I think the fact that nobody knew what “49er style” meant was a little confusing, but everyone pulled out hidden stashes of cheap beer and cheap whiskey and had a few drinks.

I partied down for a little while and then headed back up the hill as half-frozen flavored tofu just wasn’t gonna fill me up after the day’s activities. I think there were a few more people who had the same idea and followed close behind.

I’m headed up to Skyline park sometime this afternoon for ‘registration’ and the pre-race party. The adventure continues.
