I’ve been hinting on and off for a while on the blog and through twitter that I’m taking a little upcoming trip to Europe. Well, the hinting is over, because the time is upon us.

As all of you know full well, I never sit still. As a result, trips like this that I should be thinking about in anticipation for months in advance just kinda creep up on me. I’ve been doing so much the last couple months, that it seemed like it was too far away to think about. I would say that this past weekend it finally hit me, and I’m f(#$&in psyched now.

I’ll be doing a couple last hurrah rides today and tomorrow, getting all packed up, and jumping in the car for phoenix after work tomorrow. Friday morning, I head out from Sky Harbour Airport to Philadelphia and the on to Brussels.

Once in brussels, I’ll catch up with the Nack-attack, and from there the details are a bit fuzzy. I know that I get in at 10:40 in the morning, and jason has assured me that we will start fighting the jetlag immediately with beers.

Did I say things are a bit fuzzy now? I anticipate them getting even more fuzzy once I arrive.

I’m playing this a bit by ear, but at some point before wednesday we’ll be jumping on a train to Geneva, renting a car, and setting up shop on the side of either the Col de Romme or the Col de la Colombière in preparation for Stage 17 of Le Tour. I’m sure there will be drinking, I may have a costume of some sort on, and I’m definitely gonna be doing a lot of yelling at guys in spandex and hanging out with other crazy bike fans. Especially with the way this tour is shaping up, this is gonna be a really exciting stage.

There’s a possibility that the next day I’ll head over to see the individual TT as well, but who knows what condition I’ll be in at that point, so I make no promises.

There’s also talk of a day or two in Chamonix, possibly visiting my cousin in Amsterdam, and who knows what else. All I know is I gotta be on a plane back to the states on monday the 27th.

I’ll have my laptop with me, and will hopefully be posting a couple times while I’m over there, but I make no promises as to when or how often.

I, will, however, promise that I’ll drink a lot of good beer, eat a lot of good food, see some incredible bike racing, and let you all know, at some point, that I’m alive and well.

Well, at least I’ll try to give a hint on where to start the search party when I don’t come back.

Ya’ll hold down the fort while I’m gone.
