I’ve never claimed to be a blogging powerhouse site. In fact, I was discussing the other day how much money I’ve probably spent on hosting fees and domain name registrations over the past several years of doing this, and how the domain name I sold a year or so back probably didn’t even come close to covering the costs.

But every now and then I feel the sweet tiptoe of fame creeping up behind me. Today was one of those days. Behold, the email I just received:

Hi Nathan,

I was checking out your blog and it looks like you have some great times mountain biking and beer drinking. I hope your Crazy 88 went well. I’ve put together competitions as well and I know what it can be like finding sponsors, organizing, and promoting. I found it to be a lot of fun when you start getting gear from sponsors and once it all comes together successfully, there’s nothing like watching your own event go down. I’m interested to hear how it went. Since your blog is such a good source for mountain biking, I thought it seemed relevant to give you some information on a new product for riding on those hot summer days.

My name is Andrew ***** and I work on behalf of Anti-Monkey Butt Powder (AMBP). I thought you and your readers might be interested in learning about it. AMBP is a new product, invented by motocross riders, designed to treat friction and irritation that can result from excess sweat. As you yourself and I am sure many of your readers may have experienced, excessive sweat can cause irritation, also known as “monkey butt”. Unlike other powders, AMBP has calamine and talc which gives it a cooling sensation instead of the burning that you might get from other products.

We’re looking to spread the word about AMBP to riders like you and your readers. Would you be interested in trying some product out and posting a review on your blog? I will gladly send you a sample to try out; just shoot me your mailing address.

You can get more information on AMBP here: www.antimonkeybutt.com, …..

Let me know what you think. Thanks again for a great blog!

Andrew *****

I am personally a fan of the cream-based approaches to fighting the summer itch, as illustrated by my excitement over the DZnuts sponsorship for the crazy 88 this year, but who am I to turn down free product. You had better believe that I’ll be trying some anti-monkey-butt-powder.

I’ll forgive Andrew for not seeing that the 88 hasn’t happened yet, mostly because this logo is simply awesome.
