What a Weekend
Wow. This was a busy weekend.
Saturday started early, just like we wanted. Dan took the first swing at the chimney before he let for work that morning at about 8:15. That started a quick path to destruction. We didn’t have a huge number of people, but we were still enjoying ice cold beers by 10:45 am. That meant we were out of the attic by then. It was down to a small pile of rubble sitting in the living room by 12:30. I was impressed.
Here’s a before and after for ya:
The old fireplace is to the left (sorry, not the greatest pic):

And here is lynn sweeping out the area where it used to be:
We even got the roof patched up tonight after work. There’s still plastic over the ceiling inside the house. At least it won’t rain into the hole now. . .
Saturday night was adult prom. It was a blast, as usual. I was wearing my suspenders, a top hat and a pair of creepy looking sunglasses. I was told that I looked a lot like Alex from Clockwork Orange. I’m not sure if I should have been flattered or not. I’ll take what I can get, I guess.
Sunday we brewed another batch of beer, which means we have a delicious oatmeal stout which has been out for a couple weeks, and then a Hefeweizen and an ESB in the fermenters right now in hopes of having them out by 4th of july. Delish!
That about summed up the weekend. As you can tell, not much riding. I was a little bit more in the “drink beer and smash up stuff” mode than I was in the “ride my bike until I puke” mode. But, I’m sure that will come in due time. The weather is beautiful out right now, and when j-money and I went for a spin up to overlook trail and back yesterday, it was about as close to ideal as you can get (maybe a bit less dust, but I’ll take it).
On that note, I can’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but there is going to be a 12 hour, singlespeed only race called “12 hours of 1” up here at the nordic center in august. That’s about all the details I have right now, but I’ll let you know as soon as I do.
I’m off to bed, roofing is exhausting.
peace out.
