Destruction
The summit center classic went off this weekend. I was solicited a couple times to ride it, but decided that my significant lack of road biking experience was a hazard to myself and others. However, we did go watch the downtown crit on saturday. It looked like a good time. We only saw a couple crashes during the Cat 4 race, and other than that it was just some ridiculously good riders doing insanely fast half-mile laps around downtown flag. Maybe someday. . .
I went for a ride saturday morning before heading up to the race, and it turned into a bit longer of a jaunt than I thought, but I think it was good to work a long ride out of the legs. I climbed up dog food to weatherford road and across secret. I meant to head down upper moto, but totally blew past it and ended up riding down yur mom instead. After that, I was still feeling ok, so I headed across the fort valley trail, went up snowbowl road and caught friedlan-prairie road across to campsite 12. I finally got back onto secret and came down upper and lower moto back home (which was the original goal, minus the large detour). All-in-all, it was a good ride. I wasn’t exactly motoring, but I felt pretty good.
Dan decided to get all motivated, and taught me some basics about how to not kill myself or those around me when riding in a group on sunday afternoon on the road bikes. We rode for about an hour, and ended up doing the first 3-4 miles of the snowbowl climb. Good times. Maybe I’ll get up the guts to go ride in a group sometime soon. We shall see.
We also got a garden planted this weekend in the back yard. 2 hours of roto-tilling and about another 2 hours of purchasing and planting, and we have tomato, pepper (jalepeno, chili, bell, and habenero), squash, cucumber, beans, pumpkin, zucchini, and watermelon plants in the ground. It was a good time, and hopefully will yield some delicious food in a couple months.
To Dan, Kyle, and I: “Wow, it’s not often I see three guys in here spending so much time buying plants.” – A girl who was working at werner’s
Finally, I want to let you all know that the rumors are true: we are tearing down the chimney at my house this weekend. If you have some pent up aggression, some unchecked rage, or even just need to blow off a little steam, c’mon over on saturday. Proper footwear and long pants are required, and if you have any of the following, feel free to bring them:
-Safety Glasses
-Work Gloves
-Sledge Hammer
-Cold Chisel
-Dust Mask
-Long Sleeve Shirt
-Long Pants
-Health Insurance Card
We’re gonna get rolling at about 8am on saturday (the dumpster is already here), and will be quitting mid to late afternoon in time to get ready for the adult prom that night.
If all is going well, and the chimney is below ceiling level by noon (I think we can do it), then we’ll bust out some complimentary beverages, and most likely some pizza as well. But, the rule is: no alcohol until everyone is off the roof and out of the attic.
More details to follow. . .
