This week has been bike to work week here in flagstaff. Once again, I was the coordinator for my worksite, and I have to say, I did a damn fine job this year.

We ended up having the highest number of people riding in on wednesday with a whopping 28 riders from my place of employment. That’s a nice bit above the 19 we had last year. Unfortunately, they do the overall prizes by percentage, not just numbers, so with over 200 people working with me, it’s not looking good for the overall. That’s okay, it was just nice seeing the bike racks overflowing all week.

Other than that, it’s just been a week of commuting to work, a couple short mountain bike rides and getting ready for the whiskey. I’m actually feeling good for it this year in the sense that I’m not sick, and I’m also feeling like I’m in some semblance of good athletic shape as well.

My two goals are to get ahead of as many people as possible before the first singletrack (I got caught up there last year, and it just hosed my rhythm for the rest of the race), and to not cramp up. If I do those two things, I think I’ll come out with a good time, and I’ll be happy with the race. A good finish would just be icing on the cake.

Although, in reality, the bottom line is that the guys at epic rides not only put together a good ride, but know how to party as well. As a function of the latter, there is a supposed pub crawl in prescott saturday night, so we can all drink away some of the pain acquired earlier in the day.

With that in mind, I’m outta here.
