Reading, Racing, and Riding
Not much going on tonight, just some housework, some dinner, and some great new music.
I do, however, have some items that may interest you.
How many people miss the musings of everyone’s favorite fruit on drunkcyclist? Well, fear not, folks. Somebody decided to give him the keys to the New Belgium Blog. That’s right, the pineapple moved north with his main squeeze and is reborn under the moniker of “juicebox”.
Yes, that was a horrible pun, but with a name change from pineapple to juicebox you should have all seen it coming.
Sounds like a decision has been made about the North American Handmade Bike Show (NAHBS) next year. The rumor reality is that it’s gonna be rolling into Richmond, Virginia. Can’t say I’ve ever been to Richmond, and I’m not sure if I’ll take the time next year to hit it up, but I’m glad to see that Don is keeping it moving around the country. Can’t wait until it heads back this direction.
Seems as though a thread on MTBR has brought the Crazy 88 to the front of everyone’s minds, and there’s even a few folks already throwing their names in the hat for this year’s race. Believe it or not, I’ve been putting some preliminary plans together, and prompted by the sudden interest, I’ve put some teasers up on the page for this coming year’s event. Keep your eyes peeled for more details to come, and I’ll let y’all know know when more comes to light.

I will be there. Hope you don’t mind but I am thinking of doing the Walnut Canyon loop first. Seems like a better option to do that loop first because 1) that is the hot loop and good to do it in the AM when it is cool, and 2) the soil is sticky when it rains so me thinks it is good to get that loop done in the morning before the typical afternoon showers.
what do ya think?

I’ve struggled with the order of the loops a lot as I, too, had that same thought about the second loop being more exposed and a little more prone to sketchyness when it’s raining.
On the other hand, though, I feel like the first loop is a bit more remote since you’re never more than about 4 or 5 miles from either a major road or town on the second loop.
I’m just not sure.
Maybe we’ll try it that way this year, and then there’s one of each under the belt and we can see how it works out from there. Have to mull it over. . .
