The Sedona Circumcision was, by all measures, a resounding success. 8 of us left the IGA in oak creek on saturday morning, and after 2 days of riding, walking, falling, eating, drinking, laughing, and generally chilling, 5 of us rolled into flagstaff under our own power on sunday night.

By the numbers I ended up with 23 miles on saturday, 55 miles on sunday, and about 8900 total feet of climbing.

All 8 of us shredded a good part of the day saturday with a list of worthy interruptions to split up the riding a bit. Creek crossings, beer bets, burger king chow sessions, naps at Mountain Bike Heaven, and finally a dip in the (not so) dry creek to end the day.

We got a campfire going saturday night and had a grand time telling tall tales of whatever came to mind. That night got a little cold, but we all ended up getting some shut-eye and woke to a beautiful morning.

Scott jetted early sunday morning to head to a sedona lunch date.

Dave bowed out after the morning shred to take in the sun with Nathan Jr on a hike.

Chris stayed along through lunch at Tacos Del Mar, and then headed back to his car to make the drive down to the heat of the valley.

It didn’t take much persuasion to convince tRoy and I that my car would be fine in the IGA lot until monday. We joined Fry, Randini, and Blair for a rip up schnebly hill road and a spin back on I-17 and Munds Highway to Flag-town.

It was a good cap to a good weekend of shreddin’. tRoy, Blair, and Randini seemed to be feelin ready to take on their bids for the “AZT 300″:http://www.topofusion.com/azt/race.php in a couple weeks, Scott and Dave are headed down for a pre-ride of the course in the opposite direction, and I’ve officially chalked up my first bike-camping experience (with more definitely to follow).

I jumped on the road bike today after work, battled a headwind down the canyon, and picked up my car from the IGA parking lot. With that 40 mile road shred down to the Village of Oak Creek, I dotted the final “i” in circumcision.

I’ll leave you with this parting shot of His Royal Gnominess, chillin under a shade tree. Check out a few more choice shots “here as well.”:http://www.handlebarsandwich.com/wordpress/wp-gallery2.php?g2_itemId=3808
