Drunken Races, Stolen Bikes, and Shreddin’ the Gnar
First things first. I promised more information about the St. Patty’s Day Shred when I had it. Well, I have it, and you can see the flyer here.
I am actually a little pissed that I didn’t know about this earlier because I will be skiing in utah, which although will be a ton of fun, will not be riding my bike around flag drunk. Then again, I guess I can ride my bike around flag drunk anytime I want.
I have no idea what the stages will be, but I know there are 7 of them. Bryce, Ben, and Mike formulated them, and when I asked Bryce what bike he would take, he said the 29er singlespeed. That’s all I know about it. Oh yeah, and I was told that helmets are mandatory, even though it’s not on the flyer. So bust out your aero helmet and get your drunken ride on.
The next set of info I want to pass along is some unfortunate news about a stolen bike. This one belongs to Alicia, and is a white Fetish Cycles Discipline. Here’s a picture of a red one, remember the one you are looking for is white.
Same rules apply to this stolen bike as any others I’ve posted about. If you see the bike being ridden around flag you have full permission to spear tackle the person on it and beat some answers out of them. This is another pretty uncommon bike around these parts (nobody deals fetish in town that I know of), so if you see one, it’s probably Alicia’s.
Moab was a good time (like that’s a big surprise). I freakin’ love that place. We didn’t do a huge number of rides, but we rode p-rim on saturday and amasa back on sunday. It was a good time. Pics are up here
I would like to point out a series of shots starting with the one below:
This was the final big drop going down to the creek at the end of porcupine rim.
That’s me.
Riding it.
The whole thing.
I almost ran over a downhiller who had crashed at the bottom of it because he “saw me coming” but didn’t think there was “any way you were actually going to ride it, so I didn’t move”. I think that’s the last time he’ll take his sweet time getting out of the way for a spandex-clad ass heading towards him.
To prove that it was possible, I went back and did it again for Dan when he showed up. It was ridiculous. Thanks to Rob for pointing out the line last time I was there (it was wet, neither of us rode it that time).
Also check out Dan in this pic:
I think his new name is “Shreddy McHuckster”. That pic was on Amasa Back. He was kickin’ it, old school stylee. He was redeeming himself for porcupine rim.
You will also have to deal with a couple artsy-fartsy shots in there. I had a few beers and decided to take a few pictures sitting around the fire that night. I’ve been reading too much over at dps and somehow think I can take pictures worth a damn now. There are plenty more that I won’t subject you to right now.

Hey Nathan,
Nice blog, thanks for the link. Just wanted to offer you a ride on the 29er I built last fall. There is a picture of it on the VooDoo website. You owe it to yourself to go long bording through the woods on some fine singletrack.

That’s a totally cool lookin’ bike! Do you have any bigger pics of it? That split top tube is super-cool lookin. Is that all one piece for the top tube, seat stays and chain stays? Looks sweet!
I’d love to that that thing out for a spin at some point, looks fun!
Shoot me a bigger pic by email, and I’ll throw it up on the site.
For those of you who haven’t found it yet, there’s a little pic of the bike on the left side of the voodoo climbing blog
