Recovering
Went for a nice mellow ride today in sedona with J-money and Dan, and we couldn’t ask for more perfect weather. Temperatures in the 60s/70s, blue skies, and other than the fact that the switchbacks are still closed so we had to drive around on the highway, it was awesome.
We did a nice loop from the airport trails (loop trail to brewers), to Jordan, Teacup, Andante, and Thunder Mountain. A good 2 hours on the bike. I’m still doing a bit of recovering from last weekend, so I decided to avoid the drive to Phoenix for Estrella. I figured I would just be disappointed if I wasn’t feeling 100%. I think it was a good call.
Did you see Off Road to Athens? If you did, you know how good it was, if you didn’t, shame on you, it was a great movie. Ask Dan to borrow it, he has a copy.
The folks at gripped films have another couple movies coming out that promise to be just as epic. The one in particular that caught my eye (and my cash for a pre-order already) is called 24-solo and chronicles Chris Eatough as he vies for his 7th world 24 hour solo championship title. Stop what you’re doing, and go watch the trailer right now. No, really, I’m serious. Your jaw will hit the floor. If you thought Tinker Juarez was an amazing 24 hour racer (you were right), you will be floored by Chris. 24 hour racing is taken to a new level. I can’t wait until the movie comes out. There will be a viewing party here, you’re all invited.
I haven’t been riding a ton in the last week, so instead of telling you all about how to wire a 3-way switch (which I have been doing), here are a couple other items to entertain you for the time being, courtesy of The Goat.
First up is another item which is high on my list, the Banana Bunker. There have been attempts to make bananas more durable in the past, but these guys have perfected it. The accordian shape seems like a no-brainer, adjusting to the size of the banana while squishing down in size once you have enjoyed your potassium-rich treat.
Finally, I leave you with the dream of the perfect off-season training machine. Brilliant!

Yeah, Eatough is good but Craig Gordon’s got my respect. That crazy Aussie knows how to throw himself deep into the pain cave. http://www.velonews.com/race/mtn/articles/11025.0.html

wow. that’s ridiculous. you’re right. When you beat the 6 time world champion by an hour, you are a total bad-ass.
of course, now the end of 24-solo is ruined for me, but It was worth it. that’s incredible.
