I've hit it hard this week and am finally feeling like I'm not completely flailing, but it's a tough road.

I think I'm finding that the motions that were so ingrained in my head are not completely wrong, and so I think I'm getting back on track and starting to feel like there is potential out there for going faster than I was. Man, the last couple night have been frustrating, though.

I envy your ability to swim any considerable distance, no matter the efficiency. I can swim, but haven't tried swimming laps in a very long time (and wasn't very successful when I used to do it occasionally). Can you believe I used to be a lifeguard? Crazy.....

Handlebar Sandwich:

Interesting thoughts. I am in a similar position in swimming which I took up recreationally a year ago. I swim freestyle for 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week and my instruction to this point has been coaching videos on youtube. Given how critical technique is in swimming, I realize that to get any faster will probably involve getting some coaching which in turn likely involve starting from scratch and all the time and headache involved with that (doing boring drills etc vs. just swimming) So, do I continue doing my thing (enjoying swimming pretty slowly with marginal technique at best)or blow it up in hopes of actually learning to do it right and ultimately get faster. Good question.

ps- enjoy your site
